State Disability & Related Benefits (U.S.)
In addition to federal programs (SSDI, SSI, SNAP, Medicaid, etc.), many U.S. states and territories have their own disability-related benefits and supports. These can include:
- State disability income programs
- Extra cash supplements to SSI
- State health programs
- Special housing or caregiver supports
- Emergency assistance programs
This page is a map and placeholder. It is meant to be built out by people who live in each state.
Types of State-Level Programs
Examples of what might exist in your state:
- Short-term disability benefits (often for workers, separate from SSDI)
- State disability pensions or assistance programs
- State supplements to SSI, increasing your monthly payment
- General assistance or “safety net” cash for people who don’t qualify for other programs
- Additional Medicaid programs or waiver services
- Caregiver pay or stipends (sometimes under Medicaid, sometimes separate)
- State-funded in-home support services
- Utility assistance, emergency rent help, or other targeted supports
